DJIME is a training institution that provides certificates accredited by both METI and ESSCI, aimed at preparing India's youth for careers in the HVAC industry and bridging the gap between skills and their application.
Our inception dates back to 2017 when the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) in Japan, and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in India signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for the Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Programme (MSTPP), specifically designed to benefit India's young generation. Under this programme, four Japanese companies, namely Daikin, Suzuki, Toyota, and Yamaha, were tasked with setting up METI-certified institutions, thereby becoming the initial members of the Japanese-India Institute of Manufacturing (JIM) project. As part of our objective to establish our JIM, we selected 30 female students from polytechnic colleges across India to participate in our first batch. On August 19, 2017, we launched the Daikin Japanese Institute of Manufacturing Excellence (DJIME).
Vision of DJIME is Contribute to society by making people industry-employable enabling them to make their living,
through means of skilling, reskilling, and upskilling, thus empowering the youth of this country.
Increase the employability of Indian youth by skilling, up-skilling, and re-skilling on latest Japanese manufacturing like Kaizen, 5S, etc., and trade techniques, along with computer skills and personality development.
Provide high-quality and efficient workforce by aligning training to the needs of industry and our country, thus, supporting the Make In India, Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat movements, promoting India as a manufacturing hub.
Drive gender diversity, equity and inclusion by supporting women's education, giving them equal opportunity in vocational training by means of preference.
Promote DJIME as a training hub for all Japanese and Indian companies in the zone for skilling their own employees on various job roles and exchanging best practices.
Provide learning and placement opportunity to the underprivileged section of society by training the youth of small towns and lesser-known villages, thus, reducing inequality and working towards UN SDGs.
DJIME is the CSR hub of Daikin India, the world's number #1 air-conditioning company. Daikin's excellence in business has paved the way to development of society through skilling and enhancement at all levels. Though India has chartered some of the best academic institutions, skilling and vocational training remains an unexplored enclave for the youth. In support of its growth and on behalf of society, I salute India's hon'ble Prime Minister's mission of Skill India, Make In India, and AtmaNirbhar Bharat. Our inception of the first batch was with all-female students to support India's "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao" initiative. We have successfully completed 8 batches, of which, 5 batches were held in our fully equipped state-of-art facility inaugurated on 8th April 2022 and 2 batches are currently underway.
